Shepherd hook earing gauge too thick

I purchased a set of silver and gold shepherd earing hooks and the gauge on them is too thick. I can not put them in the hole I have in my earlobes and also as I didn't want to add an extra rings to hang the pearl and stone item I had to cut the loop on shepherd, I really like them but I can't use them. I think any shepherd earing should be 18 gauge. What are these as it didn't say
it on your website, when I purchased them.
